Earlier source notes retained: Earl Barton Scott obituary (Wilde Funeral Home): November 9, 1935-August 12, 2020; born Pomeroy, Pennsylvania; parents Jackson Kendig Scott and Esther Ayers Scott; wife Joann Moretz Scott, 61 years married. Children Wendy Scott Webster (Mark), Cheryl Scott Brown (Michael), Steven E. Scott. Siblings Janet Clavier (Walter), Doris Anderson (George), deceased Emma Tracey (Edward) and Jackson Scott Jr (Anita). Earl graduated Horace Scott High School in 1953, served in the Army in El Paso 1958-1960, worked Bell Telephone/AT&T until 1991, then Scott’s Telephone Wiring. Obituary announces Upper Octorara burial. Funeral-date conflict within page: narrative August 18, 2020; footer August 19. Do not equate funeral date with death. Joann’s separate notice: https://www.wildefuneralhome.com/obituaries/joann-moretz-scott ; August 25, 1938-November 24, 2023; born War, West Virginia; parents William Emory and Jessie Howell Moretz. Married Earl in El Paso in 1959 according to narrative; exact date absent. Same three children. Grandchildren Zachary S. Brown (Katy), David M. Webster (Katie), Jonathan S. Webster, Danielle J. Brown; great-grandchildren Leroy and JoJo Brown, William and Eloise Webster. These are obituary-reported relationships; no individual grandchild-to-parent assignments inferred. Joann graduated in 1956 and worked at Chemical Leaman, Raytheon, Embreeville Center and Merrill Lynch. Notices support identifying Earl as Emma Tracey’s brother; exact cousin degree to Joe still requires the complete connecting chain. This is unconfirmed. George in parentheses in Earl’s 2020 notice does not prove George was living then; the George Anderson notice records death in 2015.
