Research context, not proof of Junior's parentage. Two full original images inspected, 2 November 2026.
1. Perry grantee index, DGS008067689 image369, printed166–167: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSF1-3XYL The early Diven entries include 1832 James Jr from William Power E1p80; John/James A from Richard P Diven E1p81; James's administrators from George Stroop E1p94; heirs from Abraham Landis E1p95; John from Jacob Swartz E1p528; James from H. Connor F1p106; and an 1838 entry from John Linn's executors G1p498. The handwriting in the index for Linn can be misread as Simes; the actual deed confirms Linn. A group of 1839 James purchases is indexed H1 pp219–224, including James Wilson p224, NOT Wilson Tagg. Later James L/John L from James A is N1p253 (recorded1850), the already preserved1849 deed. The 2 April1838 Tagg-to-James A transfer was not found in these checked index entries. This bounded check is not proof it was never recorded; check grantors, delayed recordings and releases endorsed on prior instruments.
2. Perry Deed G1 pp498–499, DGS008067694 image258: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSFB-1SKT-H Deed dated28December1833, entered8August1838: Samuel, William and Andrew Linn, executors of the Reverend John Linn, to John Diven of Tyrone for $7,743.10, 387 acres26perches and allowance. Refers to the Reverend's will at Carlisle and earlier patents. This establishes the transaction, not that the grantee is Junior's son John P, Senior's executor John, or the John married to Anny Linn. It does not state kinship. The already established Linn/Diven marriage makes maternal or marriage-derived cousin explanations important when assessing the1868Brewster cousin clause. Do not use this purchase alone to merge namesakes or infer Junior's father.
Original image255 was also checked while locating the page: Kern-family conveyance and Thorn/Brown, not the target. G1-H1 opening image8 is ordinary deeds, not a bound name index. Further H1 transactions remain leads, not inspected evidence. Original spelling/number readings take priority over FamilySearch OCR.
