3 August 1801 John Bispham, sheriff, conveys Obadiah Stockton's Juliustown/Springfield lot to Samuel Stockton Junior, following a May 1800 Common Pleas judgment recovered by Elizabeth Stockton for $1,600 debt plus $14.70 damages/costs. Lot stated as 1 acre, 3 roods, 24 perches. Advertised sale 20 July 1801 adjourned to deed date; price 50 cents subject to prior encumbrances. Acknowledged 8August 1801. The deed gives explicit retrieval references: Judgment Book A page 200 and Execution Book D page 148. Both page numbers checked against enlarged original; machine transcription misreads the execution page. No relationship or maiden name of Elizabeth is stated. Do not confuse Samuel Stockton with Samuel Garrigues, or assume Junior means a minor.

Why retained: an already-known 1799 assignment places Samuel Garrigues, wife Mary, Eliza Stockton and Hannah Garrigues in Obadiah's debt network. This separate court action may identify creditor Elizabeth or underlying family obligations, but does not itself prove the Rebecca–Hannah bridge or that creditor Elizabeth is Obadiah's wife.

Official NJ State Archives catalog confirms CBUCP004 volume 1 Judgment Book A (February 1799–November 1802), accession 1996.027: https://www.nj.gov/state/archives/guides/cbucp004.pdf . CBUCP010 execution catalog lists Book C then Book E, omitting D; absence from this guide is not proof of destruction: https://www.nj.gov/state/archives/guides/cbucp010.pdf . Underlying judgment/pleadings not yet inspected. No charges or inquiry authorized by this record.
