Research update — 7 October 2026. The historical registered will has now been inspected directly (Philadelphia Will Book K, pp. 114–115, no. 74; WEB-20261007-055443-3b3c4dfc). The earlier statement below that the will was uninspected is superseded for this registered copy; the loose signed original and deed remain uninspected. Jacob describes himself as a joiner of Roxborrow Township. His will dated 22 December 1752, proved 22 October 1753, explicitly names son [[person:benjamin_levering|Benjamin Levering]], bequeathing 24 acres and £130. This independently supports the Jacob–Benjamin father–son link. Other named children are Abraham, Wigard, William, Jacob, Anthony, Septimus and Magdalen; Abraham and Septimus are executors. The document also records the enslavement and bequest of Peg and Kit. It names neither Jacob’s wife nor his parents; Alice Tunes as Benjamin’s mother, Jacob’s 1693 birth and the proposed Wigard–Jacob link still require independent evidence. Probate establishes death before 22 October 1753, not an exact death day. This improvement does not resolve the later Kendig–Weidner descent gaps.
