Recorded life status
deceased

14 October 2026 — Original June 3, 1880 census records John R. Savage Jr., 11, son in John R. Savage’s household on Orthodox Street, Philadelphia, dwelling 28/family 31. [[evidence:WEB-20261014-153535-54bcce33|Original household census]]. Correlated with the distinctive four-child family group in the 1889 Keyser genealogy, p. 132, and Mahlon’s original death certificate. Father link to John R. Savage is corroborated by the census relationship to head. Sallie K. is listed as John’s wife, but this alone does not establish her biological maternity of this child; that maternal link remains a compiled lead. No new spouse, exact birth date or death date is inferred. Residence is observed on enumeration date; the indexed house number 108 is not asserted. Earlier research preserved below.

8 October 2026 - Keyser and Wallace family research, second round

Page 132 lists this child of John R. Savage and Sally Ann Keyser. These are source-attributed family-genealogy claims. No death date is established.

Evidence and limits Charles S. Keyser, The Keyser Family (Philadelphia: Wm. F. Fell & Co., 1889), printed pp. 129, 132-134 (PDF pages 175, 178-180). Scanned printed pages inspected. Historical family compilation, not original vital records. https://archive.org/details/keyserfamilydesc00keys

Status: Historical compilation lead. The named relationships and dates have not been independently verified from original vital or probate records. Proposed family connections are documented in these notes; they are not asserted as new biological tree links.

Source notes

Original 1880 U.S. census, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 15th Election Division, 23rd Ward, ED 474, roll 1182, written page 3 / stamped 192C, enumerated June 3, 1880, Orthodox Street, dwelling 28, family 31, lines 37–44. John R. Savage, 51, head; Sallie K., 51, wife; Jeannette, 23, daughter; Mahlon L., 20, son; Katie W., 16, daughter; John R. Jr., 11, son; Jane A., 78, mother; Virginia D., 53, sister. Identification of six existing profiles is correlated with the distinctive family group in the 1889 Keyser genealogy p. 132 and Mahlon’s 1929 death certificate naming John R. Savage and Sallie Keyser. The children’s relationships are to the head John; the census alone does not establish biological maternity. Only Mahlon’s maternal link is additionally corroborated by his death certificate. Sallie’s census age 51 differs slightly from the compiled May 1828 birth; preserve both. Ancestry indexes house number 108, but that number is written beside the preceding Clapp household and no house number appears on John Savage’s line; no exact number is asserted for this family. Date records residence, not move-in. Jane and Virginia are retained as observations without creating or merging profiles. Original image inspected October 14, 2026 and attached.
