The original 1900 Sadsbury census records John K. Bair, 57, widower, born September 1842 in Pennsylvania, hotel keeper, owning his home free of mortgage. Sons Evan and William, daughter-in-law Gertrude and mother-in-law Elizabeth Trego are present. Widowhood narrows the death search for Harriet but does not supply her exact death date.
Evidence and limits R9 - John K. Bair family and Elizabeth Trego — original 1900 census 1900 U.S. census, Sadsbury Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania; T623 roll 1393, ED 93, sheet 7B, June 11, 1900; dwelling 151/family 155, lines 85–90. https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/7602/images/4115059_00415?pid=51851507&treeid=&personid=&rc=&queryId=1ce8d00d-dfc9-4c53-9b3c-48a0593b2015&usePUB=true&_phsrc=aao23&_phstart=successSource
Census ages and reported origins remain source assertions. A household relationship to its head does not automatically establish biological maternity. Earlier qualifications and conflicting evidence remain preserved.

Earlier archive notes (preserved): Research update — October 7–8, 2026 (original records reviewed):
John K. Bair, 35, hotel keeper, appears in 1880 with wife Harriet, 25, sons Evan F., 8, and William H., 5. His original death certificate 67720 records death July 25, 1908 in Sadsbury, birth September 20, 1842, Chester County, widower, hotel keeper, father William Bair and mother Susan Widener. Informant and undertaker John H. Toland; burial Octorara Cemetery July 29, 1908.
Evidence qualification: Occupation, locality and name strongly correlate the census and certificate, but census age 35 differs from the 1842 birth. Mother Susan Widener conflicts with compiled/earlier family identification as Susan Kendig. The estate’s horse-feed payment alone supplies no kinship.
Family connection assessment: Spouse Harriet and sons Evan F./William H. explicit in 1880. Father William Bair explicit in certificate; any link to existing William Bear must retain the correlation and maternal conflict.
Next research: Resolve mother’s maiden name through baptism, parents’ marriage or estate; obtain Harriet’s death and their original marriage.
