Original 1880 census image 92 of 721, page 23, stamped 164, ED 69, Franklin, Delaware County, New York, dwelling 440/family 510, lines 5–9: Alexander Stewart, 56, farmer, born Ireland, both parents Ireland; Margerett, 45, wife, keeping house, born New York, both parents New York; Mary Jane, 22, daughter, at home; Joseph H., 19, son, at home; George A., 13, son, attending school. All three children are shown born New York. The handwritten parent-birthplace columns for the children also appear to say New York/New York, conflicting with Alexander’s Ireland entry; retain the discrepancy rather than infer another father. The original confirms the explicit wife, daughter and son labels relative to the head, but does not independently establish the children’s biological mother. George A. is clearly written; identification with the later Albert Emerson Stuart remains unconfirmed. Margaret’s age 45 conflicts with her age 45 in 1870 and with other records. Preferred tree birth years remain Alexander 1823 and Margaret 1825. This inspection supersedes the earlier C1880 status of index-only/original uninspected.
