Sam M. Monasteri’s Los Angeles Daily News obituary, published 9 December 2009, gives birth 1 September 1922 in Chicago and death 5 December 2009. It names deceased wife Marie, daughter Suzanne Monasteri-Mace and granddaughter Caitie Mace. It describes a roughly 65-year marriage, Navy service during World War II, and an optical-sales business. It reports two older brothers but does not name them or the parents. Funeral and interment were scheduled for 10 December at San Fernando Mission. The phrase “only child” occurs in a survivor statement; it does not overturn Jeffrey’s original 1955 death certificate.

Marie Evelyn Monasteri’s Los Angeles Times obituary, published 12 May 2009, identifies her birth name as Marie Evelyn Traina, birthplace Chicago, and death 6 May 2009. It names husband Sam, daughter Suzanne Monasteri-Mace, granddaughter Caitie Mace, and sister Jeannette FitzPatrick of Westlake Village. It reports attendance at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church and involvement with the National Italian-American Foundation. Funeral and interment were scheduled for 13 May at San Fernando Mission. Neither obituary explicitly identifies Caitie’s parent or Suzanne’s spouse.

A separate Legacy Remembers notice is headed Salvatore “Sam” Monasteri and gives the same 1 September 1922 and 5 December 2009 dates and Los Angeles residence. This supports Salvatore as Sam’s alias when correlated with the newspaper obituary and SSDI. The 1922 Chicago birth-index parent names remain candidates pending further verification; no parent links are added.

These are fully inspected online obituary texts, not newspaper-image scans or civil certificates. Scheduled funeral/burial dates are not independently verified completed events. No exact marriage date is calculated from the rounded duration. The Catholic Cemeteries page title also names Salvatore “Sam”, but its body remained unpopulated; no further facts were taken from it. This review supersedes the earlier obituary-index-only and unresolved Sam/Salvatore access notes, without deleting their audit history.
