Eliza Kendig in the 1910 Scott household
Evidence reference: 700.10.004
Evidence status: Census index inspected; original image opened but faint handwriting not fully transcribed
Document date: 1910

The 1910 East Fallowfield, Chester County census index places Eliza J. Kendig, 78, widowed, Pennsylvania-born, as mother-in-law in the household of Edward C. Scott, 48, with Cora K. Scott, 40, identified as her daughter. This supports a link between Eliza and the married-name Cora Scott. Preserve the indexed head’s name Edward C. Scott rather than silently changing it to the project’s Charles Edward Scott; that name-order difference needs reconciliation. Children listed are Emma T., 11; Jackson K., 10; Charles E., 9; J. Eaton, 8; David R., 5; M. Louise, 4; Thomas L. B., 3; and P. Sylvester, 2. The index anomalously labels the head widowed despite the household listing Cora; do not infer a death or remarriage from that indexed field. Original image 1042 of 1161, ED 19, sheet 1A, was opened and magnified, but its faint handwriting was not fully transcribed. No new spouse or child identities are merged solely from this entry.
