Indirect collateral research for Rebecca Haydock Garrigues, not proof of Hannah Garrigues Norris Wallace's mother. Seven full original deed-register images downloaded through FamilySearch's JPG download control on 5 November 2026; principal clauses visually checked against the originals.
1) John Bowers and Hannah his wife, Chester County, to William Meredith, 8 May 1798, recorded 25 May 1798, Philadelphia Deed Book D108 pp650–652 (D108 citation also recited in the later corrective deed). FamilySearch DGS008067382, full-film images668–669 / item2 images328–329: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSF1-MQ43-L and https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSF1-MQ43-V . $1,000 transfer of Poplar Lane tracts. Recites Moses Forster's 16 February 1775 will, daughter Alice's 16 June 1775 will, and elder Alice's residue to granddaughters Mary Bromwell and Hannah Bromwell, now Mary Broughton and Hannah Bowers. Cites Henry/Mary Broughton's 24 March 1796 conveyance, Book D57 p117. This establishes married identities and title chain; no Rebecca or Hannah Wallace maternity clause.
2) John and Hannah Bowers to Robert Haydock, plumber, 5 May 1798, recorded 25 October 1808, printed pp664–666. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSF1-GLMZ and https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSF1-G2GT . Hannah is expressly formerly Hannah Bromwell, granddaughter/devisee of Alice Forster. Confirms their 24 March 1796 sale for £2,000 because Hannah was then under age but is now over21. Premises west side of Delaware Second Street between High and Chestnut, 13.5 feet by180 feet, extending to Strawberry Alley. Robert acquired this property by purchase, not by a demonstrated contingent inheritance. Do not identify it with Alice's separately described contingent Strawberry Alley house without further title proof. Witnesses Thomas Stewart and Hilary Baker; standard heirs wording supplies no named children.
3) Henry and Mary Broughton, Cecil County Maryland, to William Meredith, 23 July 1799, acknowledged again in Lancaster County 23 April1800, recorded26September1809, printed pp559–562, DGS008067454 images574–576 (film v.IC1–2). https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSFB-YQM5-7 ; https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSFB-YQM5-H ; https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSFB-YQMP-Y . Corrects defective description in the 1796 partition/conveyance (margin D57 pp115,117), confirming Meredith's 1798 purchase. Identifies Mary Benson the younger, unmarried and without issue, whose ground-rent share descended to her sister Alice Forster; identity and older Benson estate need independent corroboration. Deeds recite elder Alice's will as23September1778. Original registered p207 was rechecked at enlarged resolution this pass and explicitly says23rd day of the ninth month1778. The prior January reading was erroneous; evidence WEB-20261105-134546-eb134ec6 has been corrected with an audit note.
Assessment: these records strengthen the Forster/Bromwell/Haydock property network and eliminate assumptions that Robert's acquisition or Rebecca's conditional bequest proves an actual distribution to Rebecca. They do not name Hannah Garrigues Norris Wallace or prove Rebecca's maternity. Hannah Bowers is a distinct woman. No family relationship changed.
