Earlier archive notes (preserved): David Scott 4th great-grandfather of James 1981 genealogy; corroborated by independent compiled genealogy Birth: 17 Dec 1778 Death: 12 Nov 1868 Recorded parents: Thomas Scott , Sarah Hope . Relationship estimate: 95% — uncertain. Father Thomas explicitly names son David in his will; family register connects this David to the pedigree. Wife Sarah is named, but the will alone does not explicitly state she is David’s mother; maternal estimate remains 90% using the family register. Corrected: the family register lists David and John Scott Jr. as brothers, both sons of Thomas Scott and Sarah Hope. The previous direct-parent link to John Scott Jr. was erroneous. Original registered copy of Thomas’s 1806 will now independently supports the corrected father-son link. David had already received land; the additional one-dollar bequest should not be read by itself as disinheritance. Sources: HISTORY · WALDRON · THOMAS1806
