30 October 2026 — Source-review correction. The saved original birth certificate directly names Albert Emerson Stuart and Katharine Wallace as Harry's parents and records August 21, 1911, Radnor Township. [[evidence:WEB-20261005-060312-4c696331|Original birth certificate]]. The saved original WWII compensation application is correlated by exact birthday, birthplace, wife, children and mother; it confirms Army entry July 24, 1944 and separation November 9, 1945. [[evidence:WEB-20261005-055708-b52822d5|Original compensation application]]. The earlier uncertain identification and subjective 80% wording are superseded for these claims. The Henry/Harry annotation has no explained date or legal effect. Unit, theater, battles and decorations remain unknown; corrected domestic-service boundary dates remain as written. The VA memorial, not the compensation application, supplies PFC rank. No new original inspection or military details are claimed in this review.
Earlier research retained for context; later original-record updates supersede the older qualifications:
Henry Wallace “Harry” Stuart Paternal great-grandfather of James marriage ledger, family document, census, SSDI and veterans index Birth: 21 Aug 1911, Radnor, Pennsylvania Death: 16 Sep 2003, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Recorded parents: Rev. Albert Emerson Stuart , Katharine Wallace . Relationship estimate: 80% — uncertain. The Chester County marriage ledger records him as age 22, a salesman living in Coatesville, born in Radnor, and married to Margaret Elizabeth Scott on 19 Aug 1933. Rev. Albert E. Stuart officiated. The supplied family document and FamilySearch tree identify his parents. 19 August 1933 · Marriage Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church, Pennsylvania. Married Margaret Elizabeth Scott. License issued 17 August. Ledger: salesman, age 22, residence Coatesville, born Radnor; Rev. Albert E. Stuart officiated. [HENRY] Sources: FAMILY · HISTORY · HENRY · M1933 · FS Original marriage evidence [100.90.001]: Original Virginia marriage return inspected on 20 September 2026, image 345 of 504, clerk number 615; indexed certificate 75-013841. Albert Edward Stuart and Sandra Lee Traina married on 27 May 1975 in Alexandria, Virginia. Albert is recorded born 30 January 1941 in Pennsylvania, age 34, with father Harry W. Stuart and mother Margaret Scott. Sandra is recorded born 25 August 1950 in Illinois, age 24, with father Alfred J. Traina and mother Camille Criola. The license was signed 19 May 1975. The form records Albert as divorced, entering his second marriage, and Sandra as single, entering her first marriage. The prior spouse is not named. The certificate supports the recorded parent-child links; it is not a birth certificate or evidence about Alfred’s biological versus adoptive parentage.
Family testimony — Joe Stuart, October 3, 2026: his grandfather Henry Wallace Stuart served in World War II. This independently supplied family recollection agrees with the existing compiled veterans-index lead; original service records remain to be checked.
Government-source verification — October 3, 2026: The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Legacy Memorial profile HARRY W STUART directly records US ARMY, PFC, WORLD WAR II, birth August 21, 1911, death September 16, 2003, and resting place MT UNION CEMETERY, Mount Union, Pennsylvania. Matching vital dates and cemetery identify this as Henry Wallace “Harry” Stuart. Source: https://www.vlm.cem.va.gov/HARRYWSTUART/18C357 (profile inspected October 3, 2026). Confirmed scope: Army service, private first class, World War II, and VA-listed resting place. Unit, enlistment/discharge dates, theater, deployments, battles and decorations remain unconfirmed. No historical documents were uploaded on the VA profile. The VA memorial is government evidence of the listed service facts, not a complete personnel file.
Enlistment follow-up — October 3, 2026: Full FamilySearch transcription inspected at https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KMVQ-69P?lang=en . Harry W Stuart, birth year 1911 Pennsylvania, enlisted July 24, 1944, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; married; private (PVT); Army selectee; three years of college; civilian occupation farm hands, general farms; serial 33876233, box 07201.237. This is a strong candidate on name, birth year/state and geography, but it gives no full birth date or relatives, so exact identification and enlistment date remain qualified pending personnel-file correlation. No original enlistment image supplied. PVT at enlistment and the VA-listed PFC are not inherently contradictory; promotion date is unknown. Do not infer a unit, overseas service or battle from this entry. Original-record follow-up — October 3, 2026: Draft card image 172/1023 (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q2SJ-2J2X), signed October 16, 1940, identifies Harry Wallace Stuart, August 21, 1911, Radnor, wife/contact Margaret S. Stuart and Newville residence. Original front/reverse attached as WEB-20261003-164752-135daf11. This strengthens identity; draft registration alone does not establish service. Pennsylvania WWII Veterans Compensation Applications (Ancestry collection 3147) has a candidate Harry W. Stuart, record 1672985, with visible Delaware County birth-place and Mifflin County residence fragments; full date and image are subscription-masked. Identity remains unconfirmed. Underlying Pennsylvania State Archives series 19.92 is the target for entry, discharge and overseas-service details. No compensation application date or service detail has been adopted.
October 5, 2026 — Original-record verification supersedes the earlier retrieval and identity qualifications above. Original birth certificate 125757 (WEB-20261005-060312-4c696331) records August 21, 1911, 3 A.M., Radnor Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, parents Albert E. Stuart (EMERSON added), age 44, New York-born clergyman, and Katharine Wallace, 37, Pennsylvania-born. Henry is crossed through and HARRY added above Wallace Stuart; the date and reason for the annotation are not shown. Preserve Henry Wallace Stuart and Harry Wallace Stuart; no legal name-change claim is made. Filed August 29, 1911.
The previously identified compensation candidate has now been inspected in full, front and reverse (WEB-20261005-055708-b52822d5). Harry W. Stuart, exact birthday and Radnor birthplace, wife Margaret S. Stuart, children Katharine 15, Alice Elizabeth 14, Margaret Kendig 12 and Albert Edward 8, and mother Katharine Wallace Stuart establish the family correlation. Signed January 26, 1950 in Belleville. Army entry July 24, 1944, Harrisburg, serial 33876233; separation November 9, 1945, IGMR, Pa. Typed foreign-service dates February 10–September 8, 1945; domestic boundary dates have red corrections and are not silently normalized. Matching serial and entry date correlate the earlier enlistment transcription. No unit, theater, country, battle, medals or rank appears in this application. PFC remains supported by the separately cited October 3 VA memorial, not this application. Original images retained; adjacent pages concern different men. The earlier subjective 80% figure is retained only as historical wording, not a new measurement; parentage now has direct original birth-record support.
