Original court images 1044–1053 inspected. Margaret Kerlin identifies herself as John Kerlin’s daughter and names her grandmother Margaret Kendig’s aged, nearly blind sister Catharine Weidner (images 1049–1050). Josephine Pine testifies that the Kerlin house had been her home since she was small, describing care with her aunt and cousin; she states age 30 in 1879 (image 1051), conflicting with census ages and the compiled 1843 birth. The audit separately identifies her as granddaughter. An in-loco-parentis assertion is not proof of adoption. Exceptions to the care/rent ruling follow the audit; the final appellate outcome is not established. Petition image 1053 identifies Jackson Kendig as heir and concerns audit/distribution; the January 1879 account confirmation nisi is not a final adjudication of all issues. This original sister evidence does not name Margaret’s parents.
