Research update — 7 October 2026. Two historical registered wills have now been inspected. Father [[person:jacob_levering|Jacob Levering]] explicitly names son Benjamin and bequeaths 24 acres and £130 in his 22 December 1752 will, proved 22 October 1753 (WEB-20261007-055443-3b3c4dfc; Philadelphia Will Book K, pp. 114–115). This independently supports the father–son relationship; that will does not name Benjamin’s mother. Benjamin’s own will, dated 15 May 1801 and proved 10 March 1804 (WEB-20261007-055601-ae4f8881; Book 1, pp. 188–189), describes him as a Roxborough farmer and names wife Catharine, son Michael Levering and son-in-law Peter Widener. Michael and Peter are executors. Catharine receives household goods for life and $80 yearly, payable quarterly; the remaining estate later goes equally to his children. The will does not name Susannah, Peter’s wife, or Catharine’s maiden surname. The compiled Susannah–Benjamin link is corroborated by the family cluster but is not directly proved by this document. The exact birth, death and marriage dates below remain compilation-based; the printed 1854 marriage discrepancy remains unresolved. Probate only establishes death before 10 March 1804.

Earlier archive wording, preserved:

Benjamin Levering Uncertain compiled relationship · 80% subjective estimate Book gives birth 15 September 1728 at Roxborough, death 25 February 1804, residence on Ridge Road, and burial at Leverington Cemetery. Wife Catharine Righter. The marriage line on page 118 appears to print 2 April 1854, incompatible with the couple’s chronology; 1754 is a plausible correction, not verified. Jacob’s transcribed will explicitly names son Benjamin.
